South San Francisco, CA    August 16, 2018 Submitted by Peninsula Humane Society and SPCA   Roses are red and violets are blue…..this little Violet sure is blue without you.  Violet is a six year old spayed female Chihuahua looking for a quiet home.  She’s a shy and petite dog who like her namesake is a bit of a shrinking violet. But with love and attention, she’ll blossom into a confident dog. Violet enjoys the company of other dogs her size and would thrive best in a home without children.  Looking for a tender and endearing dog?  Ask for Violet ID# A842967.   Other adoptable pets are available at Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA’s Tom and Annette Lantos Center for Compassion, 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame. The shelter is open for adoptions weekdays 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and weekends 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Potential adopters should arrive at least an hour before closing time to complete an adoption. For directions and information, call 650-340-7022 or visit www.phs-spca.org.

South San Francisco, CA  August 20, 2018 South San Francisco Photographer Roger Cain has a special love for airplanes stemming back to his early years when his father worked for United Airlines. Add his love of photography and our close proximity to San Francisco International Airport and what Roger has captured coming and going through the years is pretty incredible. On Thursday evening around 7:30pm Roger was able to capture some San Francisco Giants enthusiasm as Alaska Airlines was coming in to SFO from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico sporting our world famous logo  wrapped completely around this Airbus A321. When will it return? We asked Roger and he told us “It is on it’s way right now, from John F. Kennedy Airport, NY, with an expected arrival time of 8:40 pm this evening (August 20th)” So look up and out- and if you see it, SHOUT!     To see some other incredible photos taken by Roger PLEASE CLICK HERE. Cat Benatar is a three year old spayed female Brown Tabby.  She’s calm, cool and collected and would do best in a home with adults or older teens.  Cat Benatar gets along with other cats, so if you have a resident cat and are looking to add to your feline family, Cat Benatar may be purrfect for you.  Ready to adopt a cat who will sing “We belong, we belong, we belong together” to you?  Ask for Cat Benatar ID# A844580.   Other adoptable pets are available at Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA’s Tom and Annette Lantos Center for Compassion, 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame. South San Francisco, CA   September 12, 2018 by Coach Phil Fioresi Sr.   Everyone look at the kids in these pictures, now multiply them by 30 or so then add all the kids that play flag football, soccer, add some more for girls’ softball. These are the people our current and past city council members school board members and other city officials have forgotten about.   Our kids play on the worst fields from San Jose to Sacramento, and as a guy who has coached for 23 years in SSF I’m here to say it’s time for all of us to stand up and VOTE!! We need to have people in office that listen to us, not just give you a great answer when confronted then forget about you. When you fill out your ballot think about these kids.   As a little league baseball coach in SSF for 23 years I want everyone to know, we have the worst fields from San Jose to Sacramento. I would like everyone to also know our SSF Bronco and Pony teams have had to hold their tryouts in San Bruno the past 2 years because our fields are so bad.   I […]

Love Blooms on Sign Hill: Gary Greenwald and Cynthia Zamora Announce Their Engagement

South San Francisco, CA   September 19, 2018   Most of us have some significant memories on Sign Hill; hiking the trails, discovering butterflies, or sliding down the letters as a kid. South San Francisco local son, Gary Greenwald, aka Double G, has created yet another one that will become the bedrock of his future and a story to be told for generations to come. Sign Hill is a favorite destination for Gary and his girlfriend Cynthia Zamora, and after a long work week they look forward to their weekend hike above it all. When Gary knew it was time to pop the question and propose to the love of his life, he thought long and hard about where to do it, and how. He spent a good deal of time scoping out iconic San Francisco locations that would be picture perfect and offer lasting memories yet nothing felt quite right. Because the ‘quite right’ was right here in front of him, Sign Hill.   Last August Gary made their dreams come true when he took the day off of work to set up his proposal by having flowers and wine waiting for his love on Sign Hill. When Cynthia arrived […]
